Indonesian digital health company Alodokter has acquired pregnancy app Diary Bunda from Japanese conglomerate Marubeni Corp. for an undisclosed amount.
Meanwhile, Marubeni has also pledged investment to Alodokter’s Singapore-based parent Ranelagh, which also operates the Alomedika medical platform.
WHY IS IT IMPORTANT
Launched in 2020, Diary Bunda provides personalized medical information and content on childbirth and maternal care, seeking to address the growing societal problem of child underdevelopment. About 1.5 million babies, or about 30% of all children born in Indonesia each year, are reported to be underdeveloped.
The pregnancy app, according to Alodokter, has “gained significant popularity” among Indonesian mothers in recent years, now having a monthly active user base of 100,000.
THE GREAT TREND
Alodokter has continued its expansion plans and the development of new products on its platform over the past few years. He recently received a undisclosed investment from Telkom Group’s MDI Ventures and Samsung Ventures for this venture.

Alodokter said it aims to improve the digital health experience for all mothers in Indonesia by expanding its range of health services.
