From June 11 to 18, 2023, in Valletta, Malta, powerlifter Prescillia Bavoil successfully locked a 211.5 kilograms (466.2 pounds) gross back squat during the 2023 International Powerlifting Federation (IPF) Classic World Powerlifting Championships. Milestone achievement is officially a IPF world record for Bavoil, who competed in the 69 kilogram division. Bavoil used a lifting belt and knee pads to help him with that massive lift.
Bavoil’s new international best squat mark exceeds his previous record of 0.5 kilograms (1.1 pounds). Bavoil hit that 211-kilogram (465.1-pound) squat at the 2023 Sheffield Powerlifting Championships end of March 2023. This last squat helped Bavoil earn a first-place finish where the athlete also recorded a Total IPF world record of 549 kilograms (1,210.3 pounds) in its competitive division.
A first place finish with two world records is all a way for Bavoil to return to the top of the 69 kilogram international weight class. The athlete was the IPF 69 kilogram world champion in 2021 but did not defend her title in 2022 due to her missing qualifications for her usual weight class. That accolade, coupled with undisclosed injury concerns, has apparently slowed down some of the progress the 29-year-old has made in a powerlifting setting of late.
In a way, this could be seen as a return to glory for an athlete with 12 wins in 13 competitions since November 2019, according to Bavoil’s page on Open powerlifting. Overall, Bavoil has now emerged triumphant in 22 of 25 sanctioned lifting appearances during a career that began in October 2015.
Among his accolades, Bavoil also currently holds the raw squat world record (213 kilograms/469.5 pounds) and the deadlift world record (231 kilograms/509.2 pounds) in the 63 kilogram weight class. . She performed both lifts at the 2022 IPF Arnold Sports Festival.

In his second competitive appearance since the success of the Arnold Sports Festival in late September 2022, Bavoil managed to complete eight of nine lift attempts on one of powerlifting’s biggest stages.
In an Instagram post after the conclusion of the 2023 IPF Worlds, Bavoil seemed thrilled with her latest victory. The athlete called his victory “redemptive” and expected even more success in the near future.
“After my failure last year (at the 2022 IPF Worlds) and a complicated injury season, I had only one goal in mind: to close this chapter of redemption and finally open a new one! Proud to be the first Frenchwoman to win two world titles in two different categories! And now it’s the road to Sheffield 2024 (the Sheffield 2024 Powerlifting Championships)! It’s time to really build the 69 kilogram category for this deadline! I can’t wait to get back to work and show what I can do!
