I like to approach the design of our home AND our outdoor spaces with a few intentions in mind: a minimalist feel (so it’s soothing to my eyes), but a cozy and comfortable feel. Oh, and also super functional, because, hello this stage of life with two little ones running around.
My goal is always to create a quiet, grounded space – almost like a spa in some ways – and also set up in a way that we can share it with the people we love (for BBQs, dinner parties, play dates, nights out between girls, etc.). High quality yet functional parts for REAL life (especially with the sticky hands and bouncy feet that come with life in children).
So when we recently redid our garden last year, I wanted to bring that same approach to the inside of our house, outside.
We spend as many hours a day outdoors as possible during the hot, dry months. Like literally anything we can do outside, we do (play, eat, relax, host and, starting this week, even bath the kids outside in an old bucket to drinks (lol, see below) I don’t just want a backyard that *looked* beautiful, but a yard where we could live, play, eat, cook, grow a garden and create memories together, one in which we could LIVE fully.
And one of the most common DMs I get when I share a photo of our yard (or house in general) is something along the lines of… “Where did you get those chairs?” “Can you share which rug this is? “What brand is this umbrella?” “What are these plants?”. So I hope this article will be a collection of all those things.
When looking for pieces and elements to add to our spaces, I always look for the best quality I can find, but never at the best price. It takes a bit of hunting and research, but I love it. So I’m always more than happy to share my favorite finds! So here are some outdoor (and indoor) favorites of late.
Because sharing is caring, IMO. And friends don’t keep the things they love 🙂
So here it is…a roundup of my favorite summer house and garden design finds, to help you create a space that also brings you peace, ease and joy.
My favorite design finds for the summer house and garden –
