She helped you get ready for work, school, and nights out, given your good days and your bad days. She may have burned you once or twice, but never wanted to, and now it’s time to give her a break.
We are talking about your curler. If you and your curler have been together longer than some of your relationships, it might be time to upgrade.
There are tons of curling irons there and for good reason – they help create different loops and look. that you like to let go, beach waves or if you want to enhance your natural curls, it’s ideal to have this go-to styling tool you can trust for your hair, instead of cluttering your space with different curlers for different occasions.
The first electric hair curler was patented and introduced in 1959, before that metal tongs (yes, tongs like kitchen tongs) were heated and hair was wrapped around them.
Fortunately, we have come a very long way since then. Now, hair curlers come in different shapes (bubble or barrel), sizes, lengths and different materials. This is a hair curler for any style you’re trying to achieve. Straightening irons are also well used to create waves and curls with the right technique.
If you’re not sure if you’re ready for your next curler, let’s take a look at the obvious reasons why you should upgrade.
Your hair needs may have changed. Have you noticed that your hair is drying out or breaking more? Perhaps styling at too high temperatures has damaged your hair. You might want to look for a tool with lower heat settings that can still do the curls. On the other hand, your hair curler may no longer have consistent heat output, resulting in uneven curls and longer styling time.
You keep forgetting to turn off your curler. Is there a worse feeling than being in a restaurant or at your desk hoping did you turn off your looper? The anguish of trying to remember is enough to fry your hair.
Your curler is not working for your length. Maybe you bought a size that worked for an old haircut or style, but now you find styling with it is more difficult. Or maybe you bought a bubble wand curler, but find that your styling techniques have evolved or your taste for curls has changed and now you need a barrel wand.
Are you tired of burning your fingers with the curler? We’ve all been there, even when you try to be extra careful, it’s easy to burn your finger or hand with many traditional or old-fashioned curlers. Wondering if there’s a better way to heat style? There is now.
You need a curler for your natural hair and your hair extensions. Many curlers have limited heat settings and some start way too high for natural hair, let alone hair extensions. Most curlers also come in a standard length which doesn’t always work for long hair – you need a safe and effective hair curler for both.
We’re big luscious curls fans, it’s no secret. We even have our own Signature Luxy Waves and a full Tutorial on how to achieve them. Creating a curler for all hair types was a natural fit, but most of all we wanted to create a tool specifically for the type of hair we know best – hair extensions. Signature Luxy Hair curler just might be the curler upgrade you’ve been looking for.
The Luxy Hair Signature Hair Curler is made with a 1″ barrel, but what makes it unique from your typical 1″ hair curlers is its 7.2″ length – nearly 2″ longer than the medium barrel curling wand. It’s the perfect wand to achieve our Signature Luxy Waves, and works especially well if you have longer hair or hair extensions. The elongated barrel will allow you to evenly curl your long hair without having to overlap the strands.
The Luxy Hair Signature Curling Iron features a tourmaline ceramic blend coating, which distributes heat evenly. This blend of specific materials also helps reduce hair breakage and damage, prevents frizz and helps improve shine. We created a wand really with you in mind with a cool tactile tip – no need to worry about accidentally burning your fingers. The curler also comes with a safety stand that allows the wand to rest on the table without having to touch the table or surface and a styling mitt if you want that extra layer of protection.
Our favorite safety feature is the auto shut-off. The Luxy Hair Signature curler has a one hour auto shut-off safety feature, so you never have to worry about whether or not you turned off your curler after leaving the house.
The curler also comes with 11 heat settings, one of the lower heat settings being 250°F (which is the maximum recommended heat setting to use on our hair extensions) and goes all the way up to 450°F, which is ideal for girls with thick or coarse hair. coarse hair that needs extra heat for curls to stay.
Here’s a full breakdown of heat settings by hair type
You can safely style your curls without inflicting too much heat damage and still achieve the style of curls or waves you want. Always remember to apply a heat-protecting product!
Up to 250F: Heat setting for Luxy Hair and Remy natural hair extensions

Hair styling styles and techniques have evolved so much over the years, especially with aesthetics and information sharing available through social media, that it’s only fitting that styling tools like curlers also get some serious improvements. We all want products with which we can do more for less, it’s true for makeup, skin care, versatile clothing, it should be the same for our hair. Still need convincing that it’s time to upgrade your curler?

Here’s a breakdown of the biggest differences between your typical old-school curler and the new curlers:
Old school curlers |
New Luxy Curler |
5″ average barrel length |
Extended barrel length of 7.2″ |

Mixed Coating Benefits: Reduces hair breakage and damage, evenly distributes heat, prevents frizz, enhances shine and emits negative ions that neutralize positive ions found in dry or damaged hair. |
Clamp or clip to avoid having to hold the hair while curling |
Cool-to-the-touch tip to prevent annoying finger burns while styling. |
Limited heat settings |
11 heat settings |
Manual power button |
