Carrasquillo used his last performance to rewrite the record books.
A seasoned veteran, a strong woman Inez Carrasquillo got a reputation for being weird Unity is strength. The athlete lived up to that power-steeped fame in his last summer contest in the Pacific Northwest.
On July 8-9, 2023, at the 2023 Rainier Classic (RC) in Burien, WA, Carrasquillo managed to catch a maximum of 145.9 kilograms (321.6 pounds) log lift. The brand is officially a World recordexceeding Andrea Thompson’s previous mark 5.9 kilograms (13 pounds). Thompson lifted the last Log Lift record of 140 kilograms (308.6 pounds) at the 2022 World Log Lift Championships (WLLC) in October 2022. Thanks in large part to his world record, Carrasquillo ultimately took first place of RC 2023. Because the contest did not separate the athletes by weight class, Carrasquillo’s body weight at the time of the lift is currently unknown.
Carrasquillo’s air pressure feat might be even more impressive considering the athlete has only been a strong woman in a sanctioned capacity since November 2021. According to her personal page on Open powerliftingthe athlete was previously a weightlifter, having gone undefeated in her only three competitive appearances in the late 2010s and late 2020s.
Nevertheless, Carrasquillo apparently adapted well to the demands of the strong woman. Through his page on Strongman ArchivesCarrasquillo can now count three strongwoman victories to her name, including the 2022 Arnold Amateur Strongwoman World Championships, the 2022 Beerstone and the 2023 RC. To date, the competitor has also finished on the podium in five of the seven appearances strong woman in career.
When you factor in Carrasquillo’s Log Lift world record, it’s abundantly clear that the athlete has placed herself on the map of strong women.
Carrasquillo’s next strength ambition may center on winning her first-ever World’s Strongest Woman (WSW) title. The athlete finished in third place ahead of champion Olga Liashchuk and runner-up Thompson in the 2022 edition of the illustrious competition. That was building on a fourth-place finish for Carrasquillo in the 2021 iteration.
As of this writing, it’s unclear exactly when and where WSW 2023 will take place. Recent precedent suggests the contest could take place again in mid-November 2023 in Daytona Beach, Florida. By then, Carrasquillo could be more than ready to finally climb one of the tallest peaks in strong womanhood.
