Hause roars in his return.
While he is strong and mighty, Andrew Hause probably couldn’t lift a real house. However, the mere idea that the powerlifter could even attempt such a feat of seismic force is a nod to Hause’s reputation that came before him. He may have returned to add to his jaw-dropping rap sheet.
On July 16, 2023, Hause posted a video on his Instagram where he completed a back squat with wraps of 362.8 kilograms (800 pounds) for six reps in his second set. According to Hause, the training session was a personal file (PR). Instead of using a traditional dumbbell, Hause used a cambered barbell that curved around his upper back and decreased shoulder mobility needed to hold the barbell in position. The athlete wore wrist guards, knee pads and a lifting belt during striking squats.
As a young weightlifter, Hause already has little to prove. The athlete burst onto the scene in 2022 with staggering displays of power, both in training and on the competition platform. Some examples include a 467.8 kilograms (1,031.4 pounds) squat with wraps PR of a July 2022 training session and a raw deadlift PR of 420 kilograms (926 pounds) about a week later.
While noting that amazing public relations, Hause would put the all-time world record total with wraps in the 308-kilogram division in his sights. It would break this mark at the end of August 2022 with a 1,117.5 kilograms (2,463.6 pounds) total with wraps At 2022 World Raw Powerlifting Federation (WRPF) American Pro. Hause has not competed since then, citing, in another Instagram post, undisclosed personal reasons that needed to be prioritized. The athlete was apparently on track to compete in an undisclosed competition in May 2023, but pulled out, likely for the same reasons.
For the past few months, it seems Hause has been back to his “world-destroying ways,” regularly sharing different updates on his training and overall progress in the gym, like his six-rep squat with PR wraps. A vintage Bench Press set of 206.3 kilograms (455 pounds) for eight reps in June 2023 could stand out as another noteworthy footnote in Hause’s growing resume.
As of this writing, it’s unclear where or when Hause will compete next. All that seems definitive is that he’s back to hone his skills and talents in the gym. Based on its precedent, such a development could only be bad news for one of its competitive peers.
