July 5, 2023 strong woman Lucy Underdown shared a revealing update on his strong wife coaching progress. In an Instagram clip, the athlete captures a 280 kilograms (617.3 pounds) deadlift for four repetitions. According to the caption of his post, this elevator was a new quadruple personal best (PR) for Underdown. The athlete wore a lifting belt and used lifting straps to assist in the massive deadlift. In her socks, she also completed the draw of a conventional position with a traditional handle.
What might make Underdown’s feat more impressive is how the athlete downplayed his mindset beforehand. Underdown wrote that having two bumper plates (four total) on her loaded bar was not a deadlift setup she was used to. Additionally, there were no collars where Underdown trained, meaning her weight wouldn’t stay stable and even as she worked towards full lockdown. Moreover, the strong woman was apparently “under the weather”, casting doubt on whether she had come close to the new PR.
Despite all of these elements of adversity, it could be a testament to Underdown’s unique power that she still managed to transcend and complete the quadruple set.
It should come as no surprise that Underdown landed that PR at four reps. At the time of publication, the athlete holds the 300 kilogram (662 pound) strongwoman deadlift world record from the 2023 Arnold UK Pro Strongwoman competition. Underdown also owns the Kratos barbell deadlift world record of 305 kilograms (672.4 pounds), which she established at 2023 UK’s Strongest Woman. A Kratos bar is characterized by its extended length of 10 feet, creating extra “flex” for athletes when pulling their weight off the ground.
Underdown has already presented its next competition schedule. She will participate in each of the next 2023 Europe’s Strongest Woman, the 2023 Britain’s strongest womanand England’s Strongest Woman 2023 contests. To this day, the athlete is still on the hunt for her first-ever professional strongwoman victory, having finished second at UKSW 2023. Nonetheless, she will likely shine based on her precedent.
Indeed, regardless of the obstacles presented, Underdown continues to distinguish itself as deadlift royalty.
