Saudi Arabia’s Seha Virtual Hospital, touted as the world’s largest virtual hospital, has selected South Korean medical AI company Lunit to provide AI solutions to support the national cancer screening program and of tuberculosis in the kingdom.
Launched in 2022, the Seha Virtual Hospital is a key part of innovation in healthcare as part of “Saudi Vision 2030”. The hospital provides medical services to 480,000 patients every year.
As part of their partnership, Lunit delivered its chest X-ray image analysis solution, Lunit INSIGHT CXR, and Lunit INSIGHT MMG, its mammography analysis solution, which are currently being evaluated for their benefits.
Following this evaluation, it is expected that the AI solutions will be deployed later in more than 150 medical sites under the Seha virtual hospital.
WHY IS IT IMPORTANT
Based on a press release, Seha Virtual Hospital seeks to integrate Lunit’s AI solutions aimed at “offering advanced examinations to patients and improving the efficiency of the national cancer screening program”.
At the same time, this collaboration also offers Lunit the opportunity to boost its growth in the Middle East.
THE GREAT TREND
Lunit is lately reaching out to public health organizations to support national cancer screening initiatives. He joined his first national cancer screening program last year when he was chosen to provide the Lunit INSIGHT MMG to BreastScreen New South Wales‘ Breast Cancer Early Detection Program, which aims to screen approximately 350,000 women for mammograms each year.
The company also provides the same AI solution to Capio S:t Göran Hospital, one of Sweden’s largest private healthcare providers, after signing a three-year contract in June. This partnership is seen as helping to increase cancer screening capacity in Sweden by enabling the analysis of breast images from approximately 78,000 patients per year.
Meanwhile, the largest healthcare network in the United Arab Emirates, SEHA (not to be confused with Seha Virtual Hospital), has also signed a partnership with Lunit to test its chest x-ray and mammography solutions.
